Admission requirements Master Teacher Education in English

At the very minimum, you need to have earned a relevant bachelor’s degree, namely, Bachelor of Teacher Education in English or Bachelor English Language and Culture, preferably in combination with a Minor in Education. In the absence of a Minor in Education, proof of C2 level is needed, together with convincing evidence of teaching experience and teaching skills in the relevant category, the evaluation of which is done by the intake coordinator. For more information about the admission requirements, visit toelating.hu.nl.

If you want to start this master programme, you need to be employed as an English teacher in Dutch secondary or tertiary education. Preferably, you are able to teach a few classes in the higher years of your school from your first year onwards – although you won't yet be fully qualified. If this isn’t possible with your current employer, you need to find a school for your internship. We will try to help you find one.

Before your admission, you will have a personal interview with an intake coordinator. Together, you will discuss what you expect of the programme, your motivation, ambitions and experience so that you can work towards your personal Learning Plan. This will give you a good idea about the possibilities this master programme offers you, and whether it will suit you. For futher information please contact the intake coordinator: nanda.vanderstap@hu.nl
